Change can bring a complicated mix of emotions.
Even when we know a change is positive, we may still feel uncertain about leaving behind what is familiar. We can be excited about what comes next while simultaneously feeling nostalgic, hesitant, or even a little overwhelmed by the transition.
At Get Centered Counseling, Coaching & Wellness, we talk with our clients about this reality every day. And now, we are experiencing a meaningful transition of our own.
Get Centered is moving to a new location—and this move represents an exciting next chapter in how we care for our clients and community.
Growth Often Requires Change
Over time, Get Centered has grown—not simply in the number of counselors on our team, but in the range of experiences, perspectives, specialties, and approaches our clinicians bring to their work.
That growth created an important opportunity: bringing our counselors together in one location.
While moving requires adjusting to something new, our decision was guided by a larger vision for Get Centered. We want to create an environment where clients receive individualized care while also benefiting from the knowledge and experience of a connected clinical team.
In other words, we are growing our space so that we can continue growing the way we care for people.
Why Having Our Counselors Together Matters
Counseling is deeply personal. The relationship between a client and counselor remains at the center of the therapeutic process.
But individual care does not have to mean isolated care.
When counselors work within a collaborative environment, they have greater opportunities for professional consultation, shared learning, and discussion of therapeutic approaches and resources—while always respecting client privacy and confidentiality.
A clinician working with a teenager, for example, may benefit from the perspective of a colleague who specializes in family relationships. A couples counselor may collaborate professionally with a clinician experienced in trauma, anxiety, ADHD, or life transitions.
Our new location helps create the physical environment for those professional connections to happen more naturally.
For clients, that means having the personalized relationship they value with their counselor while being supported by a practice built around collaboration rather than silos.
A Space Designed Around Whole Person Care
Our Whole Person approach recognizes that emotional well-being rarely exists independently from the rest of life.
Physical health, relationships, work, finances, meaning and purpose can all influence how we feel and how we function.
Our new location gives us the opportunity to more fully reflect that philosophy in the environment we create.
We want Get Centered to feel less like a traditional clinical office and more like a welcoming place where people can slow down, reflect, connect, and do meaningful work.
Most importantly, having our team together strengthens our ability to think broadly about what each client may need—not simply what brings someone through the door today, but what may support their overall well-being over time.
When Positive Change Still Feels Hard
There is also something we want to acknowledge: change can be difficult even when the change is good.
A different driving route, a new waiting room, an unfamiliar office, or simply leaving a space where important conversations have happened can create feelings we might not expect.
That doesn’t mean something is wrong with the change.
Transitions ask our brains and bodies to adapt. Familiarity creates predictability, and predictability can feel safe. When something familiar changes, it may take a little time before the new experience begins to feel comfortable.
Perhaps there is a useful reminder here for all of us.
Growth does not always feel comfortable while it is happening.
Sometimes growth looks like excitement. Sometimes it looks like uncertainty. Often, it looks like both.
The Next Chapter of Get Centered
As we prepare to welcome clients into our new home, we are grateful for what this move represents.
It represents counselors learning from one another.
It represents greater opportunities for collaboration.
It represents a growing community of professionals committed to helping people understand themselves as whole, complex human beings.
And most of all, it represents our continued commitment to the people who have trusted Get Centered to be part of their lives.
The address may be changing, but the heart of Get Centered remains the same.
We are still a place to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and find your center. Now, we simply get to do it together under one roof.
