Counselor In Training

Whether you’re navigating anxiety, processing past experiences, struggling with relationships, or feeling uncertain about who you are or where you’re headed, you don’t have to figure it out alone. Emma believes therapy is a place where you can feel genuinely seen, heard, and accepted while working toward meaningful and lasting change. She creates a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients can show up exactly as they are, knowing they don’t have to have everything figured out before walking through the door.

Emma specializes in working with teens and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and identity development. She has a particular passion for working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and young adults navigating life’s transitions. Emma believes every client deserves a safe, affirming space where they can process their experiences without fear of judgment. She recognizes that every person’s identity, culture, values, and lived experiences shape how they move through the world, and she approaches each client with curiosity, respect, and a commitment to understanding what matters most to them.

Emma’s goal is to help you leave therapy feeling more confident, grounded, and equipped with practical tools for everyday life. Together, you’ll work to better understand patterns that may be keeping you stuck, strengthen healthy coping skills, improve communication and relationships, and build a greater sense of self-compassion. Emma believes therapy should not only help you feel better but also help you feel more capable of navigating life’s challenges long after each session ends.

Emma brings experience supporting individuals across a variety of settings. She has worked as a Registered Behavior Technician providing services to children and adolescents with autism and has volunteered as a Hospital Advocate for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, offering crisis intervention, emotional support, and advocacy during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Emma is pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Missouri–St. Louis and is completing her clinical training under the supervision of Kathy Simmons, M.Ed., LPC, NCC. She is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and holds certificates in Addiction Science and Multicultural Studies from the University of Missouri. She is also completing a certificate in Multicultural and Social Justice Counseling through the University of Missouri–St. Louis. Emma approaches counseling from a person-centered, strengths-based, and attachment-focused perspective while integrating evidence-based interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to meet each client’s unique needs.

Outside of the therapy space, you can find Emma watching reality television, searching for treasures at antique stores and estate sales, and spending time with friends and family. She believes every person has the capacity for growth and healing, and she considers it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they build healthier relationships with themselves and others.

Emma is Welcoming New Clients and sees adolescents and adults at the 14137 Clayton Road location.
