Counselor
Laura is a warm, collaborative, and flexible therapist who meets clients and families where they are, creating a space that feels safe, supportive, and often even a little lighthearted. She believes the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for meaningful change—one built on trust, understanding, and sometimes laughter along the way.
With specialized training in DBT, EMDR, and ACT, Laura works with teens, adults, parents and couples who are navigating mood disorders, trauma, parenting challenges, and the complexities of relationships and adolescence. She also brings a strong background in teaching and education, which helps her explain skills clearly, adapt to different learning styles, and support clients in building real-world tools they can actually use. Whether she is helping a teen manage overwhelming emotions, supporting a parent who feels stuck or unsure, or guiding an adult through healing from past experiences, Laura blends structure, compassion, and practical strategies in her work.
Laura takes a non-judgmental, strengths-based approach and believes every person already has abilities that can be built upon. She listens closely, works collaboratively, and helps clients break big challenges into specific, attainable goals. A central part of her work is helping people develop confidence, create healthy boundaries, and learn how to communicate their needs clearly and effectively in their relationships.
She believes therapy should not only help people feel better—but also help them feel more capable. Laura’s goal is for clients to leave therapy with a stronger sense of who they are, greater self-trust, and the tools they need to move forward with clarity, confidence, and resilience.
Laura earned her Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling from Maryville University along with her Master’s in Education. She also has experience leading group counseling in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Laura is Welcoming New Clients and sees teens, adults, parents and couples at the 14135 Clayton Road location.
