Counselors

Barry McClintock, Counselor

M.Ed., LPC

There are many reasons someone finds their way here. Sometimes there's a clear struggle; sometimes it's just a quiet sense that something isn't quite working the way it used to. You may be reflecting on patterns that no longer serve you, feeling worn down by emotional weight, or noticing questions about identity, purpose, grief, anxiety, or relationships coming into sharper focus. Whatever brings you, you're not required to have answers. Many people come looking not for a fix, but for a steadier way of being— more clarity, more groundedness, and a life that feels genuinely their own.

Therapy with me isn't about fixing you. It's about getting curious. I offer a warm, grounded, relational space where nothing in you is "too much"; and where we can slow down without getting stuck.

Rooted in relational, humanistic, transpersonal and existential approaches, I help you notice patterns, make room for emotion, and develop a more honest, workable relationship with yourself and others. I have completed various training courses with the Existential-Humanistic Institute including the Core Skills Workshop as well as Phase 1 training in Brainspotting, a powerful brain-body approach that can help access and process what words alone sometimes can't reach — bringing both depth and practical movement to the work.

I work with adults navigating a wide range of experiences, including anxiety, grief, identity, life transitions, relational stress, and the quieter struggles that don't always have a name. I work with men who are ready to go beneath the surface — beyond what they've been told they're supposed to feel — and with members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Being part of that community myself, I understand firsthand what it means to want a space where your full self is not just tolerated but genuinely welcomed. My own path includes training in Reiki and Restorative Energy Healing, and a deep curiosity about the spiritual dimensions of the human experience — threads that inform how I show up, even when they aren't the explicit focus of our work.

Whether you're in the middle of something difficult or simply aware that somethingneeds to shift, there is a place for you here. It's not easy to reach out — especially when part of you wonders if change is possible. You deserve to feel seen, supported, and met as a whole person. If what you've read resonates, trust that pull. You don't have to do this alone.

Barry McClintock holds an M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Missouri – St. Louis and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Missouri.

Therapy is all about giving you the tools and space you need to create meaningful change. Whether it’s coping with daily stressors, processing difficult events, managing anxiety, or getting to know yourself better, Bailey is here to support you. Kathy Simmons, Counselor/Manager CIT and PLPC Academy

M.Ed., LPC, NCC

Kathy cares deeply about the power of relationships and how they shape our lives. She brings warmth, empathy, and a touch of humor to her work, creating a space where clients feel understood and safe. For Kathy, therapy is about navigating the hard times together.

Her early work with children naturally led her to support parents and families, where she saw how vital healthy relationships are to the wellbeing of the whole system. This inspired her focus on couples, recognizing that when partners feel stable and connected, they can be more fully present for their children and families.

Kathy has extensive training in play therapy techniques, which she uses to help children express themselves and build coping skills in developmentally appropriate ways. She also incorporates CBT strategies when helpful, and draws on mindfulness techniques to support clients in reconnecting with themselves. She has experience supporting concerns such as anxiety, OCD, emotion regulation, addiction, family conflict, and grief.

Kathy graduated from the CACREP‑accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at the University of Missouri – St. Louis. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Level 1 trained in the Gottman Method for couples counseling. In addition to her work with clients, Kathy enjoys mentoring new counselors through the Get Centered CIT/PLPC Academy, a program she created and continues to lead. She also serves on UMSL’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling Advisory Board and has been invited as a past guest on KMOV’s My Mom Club.

Kim McGuiness, Counselor/Get Centered Clinical Director

M.Ed., LPC, NCC

When working with Kim your initial reaction will be one of comfort and relief. Kim recognizes how difficult it can be to make the choice to see a counselor. She understands the feeling of dread in finding the right fit and more importantly finding someone that is willing to do more than listen. Kim knows how we all find ways to rationalize our feelings, yet wonder if there is more to life. She recognizes how we carry anxiousness and sadness and how that can lead to feeling overwhelmed and influence how we react at home, work and school.

Kim believes many of us hold onto our experiences so tightly they impact not only our thoughts, but create symptoms in our bodies and put stress on how we communicate with our family and friends. Kim’s 20 years of experience in human resources and consulting shows up in sessions in how she helps clients find strategies that work for them as individuals, in relationships with others, or as a family. It has been said that "Kim helps clients create a strategy toolkit for themselves to use and help them feel real change". She is convinced we each hold a purpose in life and she is eager to help you interrupt old patterns that are no longer working for you in order to feel a freedom in being the person you know you can be.

Kim completed her M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Missouri St. Louis after past corporate, consulting and inpatient clinical work.  Kim works with individuals dealing with a variety of struggles and has been trained or certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gottman Couple’s Therapy, Prepare/Enrich Facilitation, Mindfulness, Grief, Play Therapy, Safe Zone, Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk. Kim is a member of the American Counseling Association, Honor Society, and certified as an Ability Ally for Inclusion.  As Clinical Director Kim teams with the owner to provide oversight, vision, and feedback on all clinical/coaching functions and support roles within Get Centered.

Kim sees adults and couples and is not accepting New Clients at this time.

Kim's hours of availability in the 14137 Clayton Road Town and Country location is:

Laura Weeks, Counselor

M.Ed, MA, LPC

Laura is a warm, collaborative, and flexible therapist who meets clients and families where they are, creating a space that feels safe, supportive, and often even a little lighthearted. She believes the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for meaningful change—one built on trust, understanding, and sometimes laughter along the way.

With specialized training in DBT, EMDR, and ACT, Laura works with teens, adults, parents and couples who are navigating mood disorders, trauma, parenting challenges, and the complexities of relationships and adolescence. She also brings a strong background in teaching and education, which helps her explain skills clearly, adapt to different learning styles, and support clients in building real-world tools they can actually use. Whether she is helping a teen manage overwhelming emotions, supporting a parent who feels stuck or unsure, or guiding an adult through healing from past experiences, Laura blends structure, compassion, and practical strategies in her work.

Laura takes a non-judgmental, strengths-based approach and believes every person already has abilities that can be built upon. She listens closely, works collaboratively, and helps clients break big challenges into specific, attainable goals. A central part of her work is helping people develop confidence, create healthy boundaries, and learn how to communicate their needs clearly and effectively in their relationships.

She believes therapy should not only help people feel better—but also help them feel more capable. Laura’s goal is for clients to leave therapy with a stronger sense of who they are, greater self-trust, and the tools they need to move forward with clarity, confidence, and resilience.

Laura earned her Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling from Maryville University along with her Master's in Education.  She also has experience leading group counseling in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) groups.

Laura is Welcoming New Clients and sees teens, adults, parents and couples at the 14135 Clayton Road location.
