Kimberly Smith, MSSW, FMCHC-CIT
Health and Wellness Coach
Starting with the firm belief that each of us knows ourselves best, Kim looks to partner with you not as an expert, but as a supportive coach as you define your vision for a healthy and fulfilled life. Her mission is to inspire and equip you with tools to obtain the energy, clarity, and confidence to aid in identifying your purpose and meeting your goals.
Kim wants to hear your story. She wants to tap into your unique personal strengths to empower you as a proactive caretaker of your health…both mind and body. Utilizing training in motivational interviewing and positive psychology, Kim will start right where you’re at helping you to define the action steps to get you where you want to go. With compassion, Kim will listen closely to what you need. She will support without judgment, help to problem solve stubborn obstacles, and will provide sensitive accountability to ensure success. You will define your path and you will be in charge.
Kim’s passion for health and wellness coaching stems from her own experience facing a stunning breast cancer diagnosis at 39 years of age and dealing with the year of intensive treatment that followed. Little did she know this experience would force her to face hidden fear and vulnerability and would cause her to reevaluate many things one often takes for granted when living a “go, go, go” lifestyle. She learned that the mind and body can be amazing forces in healing when given what they need and that it is possible to find a way to balance work, family demands, and our health. How we manage stress, what we eat, how we rest and what we do to replenish ourselves all play a powerful role in our health. This multidimensional quest for balance doesn’t have to be overwhelming and coaching can help!
Kim received her Masters in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. For 20 years she worked in Massachusetts as a licensed clinician and administrator in the mental health field before her family relocated to St. Louis in 2012. After focusing on being a Mom and getting her son off to college, she decided to pivot her career focus by pursuing the education and training necessary to become a health and wellness coach. She will graduate as a Certified Functional Medicine Health Coach from the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy(FMCA) in March 2021 and will be eligible to pursue additional certification through the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC).
Kim feels strongly that we all possess the ability to positively influence our wellbeing, to challenge our mindset, expand our possibilities, to heal, and ultimately to thrive. Make an appointment for a complimentary exploratory consultation to see if coaching is the right fit for you!

The Functional Medicine Coaching Academy (FMCA) in collaboration with the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) trains health coaches to utilize the principles of Functional Medicine coupled with positive psychology techniques to partner with their clients while educating, motivating and guiding them to make sustainable lifestyle changes to achieve their health and wellness goals. Functional Medicine (FM) is an individualized, patient-centered, science-based approach to healthcare that looks beyond symptom resolution to identify why illness occurs and seeks to address those root causes to restore health. This may include exploring diet, exercise, stress and sleep habits.
Health and Wellness Coaches seeking certification from the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) must complete one of only a few certified education programs available in addition to completing 50 clinical hours and passing a Board exam. At Get Centered, we chose our affiliated health coach based on her work with the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy affiliated with the Institute for Functional Medicine. Upon receiving certification from FMCA, she will be pursuing national certification.
