Counselor; Manager Get Centered CIT/PLPC Academy
Kathy cares deeply about the power of relationships and how they shape our lives. She brings warmth, empathy, and a touch of humor to her work, creating a space where clients feel understood and safe. For Kathy, therapy is about navigating the hard times together.
Her early work with children naturally led her to support parents and families, where she saw how vital healthy relationships are to the wellbeing of the whole system. This inspired her focus on couples, recognizing that when partners feel stable and connected, they can be more fully present for their children and families.
Kathy has extensive training in play therapy techniques, which she uses to help children express themselves and build coping skills in developmentally appropriate ways. She also incorporates CBT strategies when helpful, and draws on mindfulness techniques to support clients in reconnecting with themselves. She has experience supporting concerns such as anxiety, OCD, emotion regulation, addiction, family conflict, and grief.
Kathy graduated from the CACREP‑accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at the University of Missouri – St. Louis. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Level 1 trained in the Gottman Method for couples counseling. In addition to her work with clients, Kathy enjoys mentoring new counselors through the Get Centered CIT/PLPC Academy, a program she created and continues to lead. She also serves on UMSL’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling Advisory Board and has been invited as a past guest on KMOV’s My Mom Club.
Kathy is Welcoming New Clients and sees children, adolescents, adults along with parents, families and couples at the 14135 Clayton Road location.
