Kennedy strives to break the stigma around the counseling experience. She knows going to counseling can be a big leap of faith (and fright) and drops all expectation, judgment, and pressure. Kennedy believes living in today’s society comes with a unique set of challenges. From relationship struggles, to overwhelming anxiety, her clients come in when everything and nothing can be wrong, yet she’s ready to meet you at the door.
Through a strengths-based lens, Kennedy’s approach to counseling is collaborative and customized to her client’s needs. Her insight is rooted in a person-centered perspective with relational insight from systems theory and tools from cognitive behavioral therapy.
Kennedy is committed to giving you autonomy in your sessions, eliciting change, and getting you out of the passenger seat to your life. Here to sift through complex emotions and laugh through awkward moments, Kennedy prioritizes a therapeutic relationship of just that. Everyone has a seat on her couch.
Kennedy accumulated valuable experience from her graduate practicum at the University of Missouri- St. Louis’s counseling center. During her time at the center, she participated in counseling diverse populations and various cultures, creating a unique perspective for her clients. Emphasizing one’s strengths and creating individual relationships with the clients is the basis of Kennedy’s work, giving them space to feel heard. Kennedy possesses personal commitment to providing services in women’s issues, adolescents, and emerging adults. Empowering clients through new life stages and the challenges that follow is her passion, through specialized interest areas in anxiety, depression, body image, and self esteem. Her top priority is a collaborative approach to counseling, making way for a balance of humor, deep talks, and unwavering support.
