Counselor
Mary understands that the decision to seek counseling can be complex, and finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming. You may not even know exactly why you’re seeking therapy, you just know something feels off or heavier than it used to. Whether you know why you’re here or you’re simply looking for a space to explore your thoughts and experiences, Mary’s goal is for you to feel welcomed, supported, and understood.
Mary deeply values the importance of feeling seen, heard, and validated in therapy and works intentionally to create that atmosphere for every client. Human connection and authenticity are 2 central elements she lives by and fosters in her counseling space. When you feel safe enough to show up as your true self, meaningful change and growth become possible. While therapy can and will have challenging moments, Mary believes there is always room for warmth, curiosity, and even laughter along the way.
Mary specializes in working with older teens, young adults, adults across the the lifespan, and maternal mental health. Many of her clients are managing anxiety about the future, major life decisions, identity development, or the pressures that come with new responsibilities and changing roles. She has a strong passion for maternal mental health, supporting women during pregnancy, postpartum, the transition into parenthood, and the ever changing nature of motherhood.
You may be feeling overwhelmed by persistent worry, intrusive thoughts, or a sense that your mind rarely slows down. Perhaps life feels uncertain right now, or you find yourself struggling to navigate changes in relationships, identity, or direction. Mary frequently works with clients experiencing anxiety concerns, emotion regulation difficulties, depression, ADHD, along with intrusive thoughts, overthinking, emotional overwhelm, and difficulty feeling present in their daily lives. If you find yourself struggling with anxiety, life transitions, identity development, emotion regulation, sense of self, perinatal or postpartum experiences, or the challenges that can arise during adolescence and young adulthood, then you and Mary might be a great fit.
She incorporates evidence-based practices and interventions from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Relational Cultural Therapy (RCT), while always approaching her clients from a person-centered and strengths-based lens. Mary earned her M.Ed. at the CACREP accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at the University of Missouri – St. Louis. Mary is also working towards earning her PSI certification in Perinatal/Postnatal Mental Health. She has completed additional coursework in working with women’s issues, LGBTQ+ and culturally diverse populations, couples counseling, and family counseling.
