Counselor
Let’s be honest: starting therapy can sound intimidating. Because of this, Megan invites those from all walks of life to have a seat in her office, and explore what therapy looks like together. She believes that as human beings, we are not cookie cutter- so our treatment shouldn’t be either! Having a space to be your true, authentic self is something Megan strives to collaborate and build with her clients. She is open-minded and meets you where you are- no matter where that may be (even virtually!). She believes in the power of connection and collaboration, working alongside her clients to explore patterns, develop effective communication skills, and foster healthier dynamics within relationships. With a blend of warmth, humor, and expertise, Megan creates a safe and nurturing space where clients can explore their feelings, identify strengths, and navigate their way toward healing and growth. So while therapy may sound intimidating, with Megan it doesn’t have to be.
Are you feeling stuck in a relationship that’s lost its spark? Dealing with the aftermath of infidelity? Perhaps it seems like your family members are speaking different languages, leaving you feeling disconnected and frustrated. Or maybe you’ve just moved out on your own for the first time, negotiating new boundaries with your parents as you navigate independence. Are past traumas resurfacing as you transition into adulthood? Maybe you see your daughter, who was once an outgoing beam of light, starting to recluse and close off from friends at school. Megan specializes in working with families of all compositions, relationships of any nature (including couples and polyamorous dynamics), older teens and young adults facing life’s transitions, and addressing women’s issues to help women feel accepted and confident in their skin from ages 10 and up. If any of these situations resonate with you, or if you’re grappling with anxiety, navigating life changes, struggling with your sense of identity and self-confidence, or simply seeking a friendly and understanding ear to help untangle the thoughts in your mind, Megan is here to support you.
In addition to completing her M.Ed. at the University of Missouri – St. Louis in her CACREP Accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program, Megan has also completed her certification in Family, Marriage, and Couples counseling which requires specialized training and coursework. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2018 from the University of Missouri – St. Louis with a concentration in Psychology from the school’s Honors Program through Pierre Laclede Honors College. She has worked in a variety of both inpatient and outpatient settings with those school-aged to elderly, allowing her to truly understand the human experience in mental health in all capacities. Megan’s passion for research strengthens her ability to help in session, as she has worked in research settings pertaining to Behavioral Neuroscience and the physiology of Trauma. This knowledge and experience allows her to sit alongside her clients, and truly help piece together the experiences they are having. Megan utilizes an integrative approach utilizing techniques from CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Systems Theory, Schema Theory, Narrative Therapy, and Biological Psychological theories in her practice, but wants her clients to know they don’t have to fit in any box. She is currently under supervision of Marti Baricevic, PhD, LPC. 2018038784
