Children, Youths and Teens: Growing up can be challenging. Our counselors help youths and teens navigate the hurdles of emotional issues and academic challenges, building confidence and coping strategies that empower them to succeed. Counseling for children, youth and teens is a therapy approach that provides help to youths who are experiencing stressful environments relating to home, school, and/or trauma events. Many times children face similar challenges in their day-to-day lives as adults and do not have the language to describe their emotions or the skills to manage their behaviors. Some of these common issues include anxiety, depression, and grief. The goal of counseling for children, youth, and teens is to break down their problems into smaller parts so they can better understand where their feelings are coming from and strategies to use to cope with them in a healthy way.
College students: Transitioning to adulthood often brings stressors, from academic pressure to career decisions and relationships. We support students in developing healthy habits and achieving their therapeutic goals.
Adults / Individual Counseling: Whether facing career transitions, managing stress or addressing life challenges, we provide guidance to help adults clarify their priorities and create actionable steps toward fulfilling lives.
Counseling for individuals is a therapy approach to work with adults one-on-one in a safe, non-judgmental, confidential space. Counseling allows individuals the opportunity to explore their beliefs, emotions, behaviors and work through challenging or influential memories that define how they see the world. Working with a counselor is different than talking to a family member or friend because a counselor has only your goals and desired change in mind. A counselor can help guide you in seeing perspectives different than your own that can create a new path and pattern for healthier living.
Relationship/Couples Counseling – Counseling for relationships/couples is a therapy approach to work with individuals in a partnership. During relationship counseling the areas of strength will be highlighted in order to foster things that are working well. In addition time will be spent on identifying and resolving any pain points in your relationship. This is a gradual process that requires effort and focus from all parties. If your partner refuses to go to therapy with you, you may be able to change the dynamic of your relationship just by going to individual therapy. However, statistics show that couples or family therapy is usually faster and more effective than individual therapy alone. Practice, patience, commitment and open-mindedness are key ingredients when entering into couples counseling.
Family Counseling – Counseling for families is a therapy approach which can help improve troubled relationships between partners, children or other family members. In family counseling issues such as marital or financial problems, conflict between parents and children, or the impact of substance abuse or a mental illness on the entire family could be explored. Learning as a family the situations that cause stress, grief, anger or conflict can be a way to understand one another better and learn coping skills to bring everyone closer together.
